Assistant Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the Curriculum and Instruction pages of the Weston Public Schools website. The Weston Public Schools provide each student with a high quality core curriculum in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and world languages; and many stimulating learning experiences in physical education/health, art, music, technology and business courses. The Weston Public Schools is committed to preparing all students to achieve at the highest levels to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.

Each curricular area has identified standards for learning that guide classroom instruction and assessment. These standards articulate the skills, knowledge and understandings we believe all students need in order to become educated citizens. Standards represent the essential understandings in the subject area discipline. Student performance towards these standards are measured by classrooms assessments and state assessments, such as the Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) and the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT). Traditionally, students in the Weston Public Schools have performed at or near the top in the state. Furthermore, student participation rate and performance on Advanced Placement tests and SATs have been among the highest in the state.

Through a dynamic curriculum renewal process, the core curriculum of the Weston Public Schools is revised regularly to ensure that the curriculum is aligned with identified standards and designed to meet the needs of learners in the 21st Century.
